Activities
The charter of the foundation declares that “the purpose of the foundation is to use the funds at its disposal to assist students who are gifted in singing, piano, organ, and composition through scholarships, and to establish and maintain a home for students of the Sibelius Academy.”
Scholarships are disbursed every year to the amount agreed upon in the annual meeting of the board. Applications for scholarships close on 15th October. The recipients and the sums granted are confirmed by the scholarship committee, which consists of members chosen by the faculty of the Sibelius Academy, the AGM of Finland’s Cantor and Organ Association, and the board of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
Furnished rooms are leased out to students in the apartments owned by the foundation. The leases are subject to Finnish Law, and the rent collected from the students follows the guidelines approved of by the board of the foundation.
